Our story
We met on Hinge during the peak of quarantine. After two lengthy FaceTime calls, we decided to take the plunge and meet in person. We figured if we could talk for over two hours online, we would really enjoy our time in-person.
Since restaurants were closed, Matt offered to pick Jacqui up and take her to the nearest beach for a picnic. Jacqui, a bit hesitant, shared her location with friends and set off to meet the boy she had met online.
Jacqui packed sandwiches and snacks, while Matt provided the picnic blanket and car. It was a beautiful, peaceful sunset evening on the beach. Being together brought a sense of peace and calm during an otherwise scary and stressful time.
They continued getting to know each other through
hikes and camping trips, rainy walks through Brooklyn, trips to Luigi’s Pizza, and drinks on the stoop.
Matt surprised his Long Island family by moving to Jersey City. After a brief solo lease, he moved to the beloved “Brownhouse” with Jacqui. They spent a year working from home together, exploring every coffee shop in Downtown Jersey City, and taking daily lunchtime walks to Hamilton Park to dog watch.
It wasn’t long before Matt began planning their engagement. He chose a walk along the Jersey City waterfront, one of the spots where they spent many quarantine-era dates. Matt coordinated a photographer to capture the moment, followed by a waterfront brunch, and a celebration with friends at one of our favorite bars in Jersey City.
It was a perfect day filled with so much love and excitement.
We’re incredibly excited to celebrate our wedding with all of you!
